Ideal Disruption, a work by Berlin-based visual artist Manuel Rossner, is a site-specific digital installation in which the audience can experience Hyundai Motorstudio Busan through a smartphone app. The artist challenges the boundary between real and virtual spaces, borrowing the contemporary design aesthetic of smoothness and sleekness.
His drawings in the virtual world break through the floor and windows of the exhibition space. Here, the artist shows how paper-thin the difference is between physical and virtual worlds. Through the smooth design that has become the contemporary paradigm— what philosopher Byung-chul Han called the “signature of the present”—Rossner disrupts the boundary between the digital world and the real.
